Elective Application Process
- Applications must be received at least three months before the proposed date
of the elective period requested. - All arrangements for electives must be made directly to the Department
of Medical Education. Please note no resident is to contact the Director of
Residency Training directly to request an elective. - A complete application for Medical Students or Residents outside of
Dalhousie University or Memorial University will consist of :- completed elective application form
- proof of immunization and/or immunity against measles, mumps,
diphtheria, Hepatitis B, tetanus, Polio & Rubella - list of personal education objectives and if application the
education objectives as set down by the university - letter from your Dean supporting your application must accompany
your documents - Completed registration with Dalhousie University, Postgraduate
or Undergraduate Medical Education Department.
- The Medical Education Department
will provide formal written notification
of approval/denial of the elective requested. - Residents will be required to produce proof of licensure in the Province
of New Brunswick and malpractice insurance coverage on arrival.
Medical students will be required to register with the College of Physicians
and Surgeons of New Brunswick on arrival. - We offer no remuneration or financial aid for electives
