The Neurosciences Program was the first established unit in the province and has been meeting the needs of New Brunswickers with comprehensive services for more than 40 years. The program handles 50% of the province's adult and paediatric neurosurgery cases, with 55% of all referrals coming from outside Health Region 2. Up-to-date assessment, diagnosis, treatment and education for patients with nervous system disorders are provided by a dedicated team of Neurosurgeons, Neurologists (including a Paediatric Neurologist), and specialized nursing staff. Community education and injury prevention is an increasingly integral part of the Neurosciences Program, which actively participates in the North American Program, "ThinkFirst", annual Teddy Bear Fair and other local, provincial, and national health promotion initiatives.
