Psychiatry

Dr. Kehinde Aladetoyinbo, Clinical Head
Dr. Babatunde Apantaku-Olajide, Director of Residency Training

The Department of Psychiatry operates an active treatment psychiatric inpatient unit, emergency psychiatric services, and a mobile mental health service (adult and child) to outlying clinics. In addition, inpatient consultation liaison services, outpatient clinic experiences, as well as long term care psychiatry is available in both the community and institutional (Centracare) settings. Elective experiences at the Sleep Clinic/laboratory, as well as research (clinical trials and other) training are on site.

We offer residency training which meets Royal College and Dalhousie University requirements in outpatient psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, consultation liaison psychiatry, and chronic care. Residency electives are available in Somnology (sleep clinic/lab), shared care and community treatment. We will customize the training program to meet the individual needs of undergraduate students or residents of all levels. We also offer clinical traineeships for experienced clinicians.
